Swimmers in warm open water at an UltraSwim 33.3 event in Greece

Why a four day 33.3km is the natural next challenge

A 5 or 10km Oceanman proves you have the aerobic engine and the open water composure to go further. The 33.3km Channel distance is the next iconic milestone, and the multi day format is the friendliest way to reach it. Rather than one overwhelming swim, the distance is broken into four days of 4 to 10 or 11km, each fully supported. You taper into it the same way you would any race, then let the daily rhythm and the group energy carry you. Swimmers who make this step almost always describe it as the best week of their swimming lives, and most return year after year.

You already have the engine. Each event day is a manageable 4-11km. It stays achievable, never daunting.

THE STEP UP

Your ultimate swimming challenge awaits

UltraSwim 33.3 is an Epic Adventure Swim Race™ covering 33.3km, the historic English Channel distance, split across five to seven point to point open water swims (we hate laps) over four days in warmer water locations (a half Channel 17km option exists). So far held in Croatia, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Montenegro and the Caribbean, based at luxury spa hotels, with world class safety cover, premium support, a complete preparation programme and a diverse community that ranges from 14 to 74 years old, usually more women than men. From competitive Masters swimmers, triathletes and swimrunners to leisure and wild swimmers simply aiming to complete the distance. From a required pace of just 2km/h, any determined swimmer can do it. Come in a group or alone, everyone leaves with new friends for life. Award winning, all inclusive packages start from €1,575 CHECK (€750 for our 2 day Compact format)

You already have the engine

If you can complete a 5 or 10km Oceanman, the hard part is done. What remains is learning to spread the effort across four days.

Four manageable days

The jump from 10km to 33.3km sounds huge, but split across four days it is four swims of 4 to 10km, a distance many Oceanman swimmers already cover in training.

Bridging the gap from 5 or 10km to 33.3km

The training is an extension of what you already do. Keep your aerobic base, add a longer weekly swim, and build comfort with back to back days so that swimming the morning after a hard effort feels normal. Practise feeding on the water and pacing conservatively. The free UltraSwim 33.3 seventeen week plan lays it out, and the affiliate coach network can tailor it. Because each event day is 4 to 10km, close to a familiar race distance, you are never asked to do something you have not effectively done before. You simply do it four days running, in warm water, with a boat beside you.

How Fast Do I Need To Swim?

Supported every stroke

Each day runs under full boat and kayak cover with feeding on the water, so stepping up to the distance never means stepping into the unknown.

Continuous safety cover every day

Every UltraSwim 33.3 group swims with two safety boats and two kayaks alongside, GPS tracking and on water feeding, with a medical and physio team on site each day. That level of cover is what lets swimmers of a wide range of speeds take on 33.3km with confidence, knowing help is always a few metres away.

How to Book

When you are ready to move from Oceanman to UltraSwim 33.3

The 5 or 10km Oceanman swimmer is operationally ready for UltraSwim 33.3 today. The distance per day is below your Oceanman volume. The change is psychological more than physical. Four days of staged swimming requires recovery discipline, sleep hygiene, eating to refuel rather than enjoying the dinner, and pacing across the week rather than across a single race. Most Oceanman 5 or 10km finishers underestimate the recovery demand. The 21km Oceanman swimmer is already comfortable with the volume. Our preparation programme adds 6 to 8 months of structure for swimmers stepping up from a 5km background.

About UltraSwim 33.3

Is the 16 week plan enough to train for 33.3km?

When do the 2026 events run+

Croatia 15 to 18 May, Milos Pioneer 29 May to 1 June, Switzerland 24 to 27 July, Greece (Skopelos) 18 to 21 September, Montenegro 2 to 5 October, Barcelona COMPACT 17 to 18 October, Nevis Caribbean Pioneer 2 to 5 December.

Common questions about stepping up to a multi day 33.3km event+

No. A clear majority of swimmers at UltraSwim 33.3 events have never swum more than 5km in a single swim before they line up at the start. The four day format spreads the 33.3km into daily swims of 7 to 9km, with a 10km marathon swim on day three when you are at your strongest. The maths sounds intimidating. The format makes it possible.

How much does an UltraSwim 33.3 event cost+

All inclusive packages start from €1,800. That covers your entry, four days of fully supported swimming, spa hotel accommodation, most meals and the full preparation programme. Flights and airport transfers are the main extras to budget for.

Can my partner come too+

Yes, and many do. Non swimming guests can share your room and join the social programme, with plenty to enjoy on shore and at the finish line each day. Ask us about guest options when you book.

How much time off work do I need+

Most swimmers set aside around five to six days including travel. The swimming runs across four days, so a long weekend plus your flights each side usually covers the whole trip.
